Terminal II International Airport In Kuwait
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The main objective of the expansion of the Kuwait International Airport was to increase its capacity and establish a new regional air hub in the Gulf. For this, the construction of the new Terminal II was carried out.
NORMAN FOSTER + PARTNERS were in charge of the design of the project, whose construction was carried out by LIMAK GROUP, one of the main Turkish construction companies, with experience in similar projects such as the airports in Egypt and Turkey.
SCOPE OF PACADAR
LIMAK awarded PACADAR the realization of the main structure of the Kuwait airport, which consisted of a prefabricated structure of variable geometry based on arches that make up the emblematic 3-pointed star of the airport.
Each arch has a different span and is made up of 812 pieces, each with a minimum weight of 90 tons, although prefabricated arches weighing up to 350 tons have been built.
In addition, Pacadar proposed and designed the necessary molds for the execution of the project (adaptive molds with variable curvature) and manufactured the 19,000 pieces of façades, as well as the noise pieces or finishes of the façade against the roof that have a singular geometry.

- LEED Gold rating, a certification promoted by the US non-governmental organization USGBC (United States Green Building Council), which makes it the first passenger terminal in the world to achieve this level of environmental certification.
